Andrzej Lewinski

Andrzej Lewi?ski is Head of the Department of Endocrinology and Metabolic Diseases at the Medical University of Lodz. He is also Rector at the same university and Head of the Department of Isotope Diagnostics and Therapy at the Province Hospital, Zgierz. Previously, he was Director of the Department of Science and Education in the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare of the Republic of Poland. Prior to that, Dr Lewinski was Head of the Out-patient Department of Endocrinology at the University School of Medicine in Lodz. He is a member of several scientific societies, including the Royal Society of Medicine. From 1994 to 2001 Dr Lewinski was a member of the executive committee of the European Federation of Endocrine Societies and between 1993 and 1999 he was President of the Polish Society of Endocrinology (PSE). He was also National Consultant in the Field of Endocrinology for eight years. Moreover, he has been co-ordinator of the National Programme for Prevention and Treatment of Obesity and the National Programme for Elimination of Iodine Deficiency, and Editor-in- Chief of the Polish Journal of Endocrinology. Dr Lewinski has written 185 original complete papers, 163 review papers or monographs in books, 441 abstracts or short reports for conferences, 28 chapters in a script, a manual of endocrinology and 44 other publications.
