S. Faisal Ahmed
Professor Faisal Ahmed graduated from the University of Edinburgh and received his clinical and academic training mainly at the Royal Hospital For Sick Children, Edinburgh, University of Edinburgh and at Addenbrookes Hospital and the University of Cambridge. In 2000, he was appointed as a consultant at the Royal Hospital for Sick Children, Yorkhill, Glasgow and in 2007 he was awarded the Leonard Gow lectureship at the University of Glasgow. In 2012, Professor Ahmed was appointed to the Samson Gemmell Chair of Child Health at the University of Glasgow. He leads the Developmental Endocrinology Research Group which focusses primarily on two broad fields in endocrinology, sex development and skeletal development. In addition, he coordinates the International DSD Registry which facilitates international research and clinical networks. Professor Ahmed is the Chair of the Clinical Committee of the British Society for Paediatric Endocrinology & Diabetes and the Chair of the Science Committee of the European Society for Paediatric Endocrinology.
